    Who leaves New York City?

Before you get your whities in a bunch this is not some sappy good-bye letter swearing off NYC and damning everyone to hell who doesn’t jump ship NOW! Quite the contrary, NYC has been good to me in …its own way. The thing is one brisk night in October I woke up out of my sleep with an idea to study yoga, to take it seriously. I was failing a adulating nut yoga was he one thing that kept me balanced.  I began scouring the net for more information on programs and schools. I did a general search which lead me to bookretreats.com and there I found tons of schools, programs…

Paradise Interrupted: Traveling when tragedy strikes

A few years back I made a New Years resolution promising that I would take my mother on a trip out of the country. I didn’t have a preference on where or when to go, but I simply wanted to make it my life’s mission to get this woman out of the USA! I hounded her for months on end to “Get Yo Passport”, so much so that it became my the new way to greet her ” Hey mom, did you “Get Yo Passport?!” One day, out of the blue, I received a picture of a small navy blue book with gold foil embossments. “By George I thing she’s got it”…her passport…

Oh Canada: 24 hours in Montreal

Passport 2 Pretty took a road trip to Montreal, Canada from New York City in just a short 7 hour drive and passports in tow P2P arrived at the Canadian boarder to explore all that Montreal has to offer. I once took the eleven hour train ride on Amtrack but that it is not recommended to the faint of travel heart. If you prefer a quick flight then you will find yourself landing at Montreal Pierre Elliott Trudeau airport in under two hours. Find out why heading to Montreal is a good idea this summer and see how pretty this city really is. My stay at Hotel 10 was a…

    WTF: Women’s Travel Festival 2015

I had the pleasure of attending the Women’s travel festival in San Francisco, California and meeting the founder of The Women’s Travel Fest, Kelly Lewis. This was a great experience for me because there are times when I share my travel experiences with other women and more often than not I get reactions such as ” Weren’t you scared?” or “Isn’t traveling alone as a woman dangerous?” I immediately think to myself WTF!?!?! I wanted to connect with other awesomely brave women and hear how they overcame, fear, obstacles and naysayers! Kelly Lewis is the founder of the Women’s Travel Fest. She’s also the founder of Go! Girl Guides, which…

Viva Mexico: 48 Hours in Mexico City

Hola! Passport 2 Pretty dashed to Mexico City para una pequena fiesta para mi cumpleanos! Before I torture you with my Span-glish I want to say that Mexico City is a great city, a loving city and a safe city. When I first told my friends and family they immediately questioned my rationale to travel to Mexico solo. My response was “Are we ever really safe anywhere?” Besides a lot of the chaos happens along the boarder where our bad guys are fighting with their bad guys for power, money and drugs. Since Im not looking to start a new cartel, I figured I would be just fine.   There…

    The San Francisco Treat

Passport 2 Pretty is all about traveling and when I got the call to attend the Women’s Travel Fest, there were no questions asked, only bags packed. The trip was a quick one and I had to make good use of my time. Here are a few Dos and Dont’s for 48 hours in San Franscisco.   DO stay in Union Square. Now don’t get me wrong there are some amazing Air BnB pads that you could only dream of residing in but when you only have 48 hours, time is of the essence. I stayed in Hotel Union Square right on Powell in the thick of Union Square. Union Square…

After a romp to Mexico City, back to NYC and a jaunt to San Francisco, back to NYC all in a matter of a week. You can imagine I was a tiny bit jet lagged but I had things to do and places to see. Thank goodness I had my 5 Fixes to Fight “Flight Face. You may ask, “Kenecia, what exactly is “Flight Face and how do I know if I have it”?  First, do you travel often? The New York Times Travel Show 2015

The New York Times Travel hosted the largest trade and travel show in North America.  Jacob Javits Center was the home of over 500 exhibitors and over 150 countries represented. I had the privilege of attending for the first time. Needless to say I was elated when I arrived and checked in to receive my press pass. One of the very first things I noticed was the diversity within the crowd. There were young children, couples and seniors all with at least one thing in common…TRAVEL!     I grabbed the official guide and a made a note of a few countries that I desired more information about. Fast Food Frenzy : Fort Worth, Texas

There has never been a time when I visited my home town Fort Worth, Texas and did not indulge in the savory, cheesy, sweet, fried and spicy fast food. Its just what I crave the very moment I step onto Texas soil. I shamelessly gain a pound for every 24 hours I spend here. Here are my absolute must drive- thru and eat up culinary quickies. Up first is the sweet chocolate syrupy triple sundae from Braums. For as long as I could remember  I would visit Braums with my mom, grandmother and various family members. Braums is known for their juicy hamburgers, cherry limeades and ice cream. Nine times…

Rain: More than just Bubbles and Balms

While galavanting around Rockefeller Center  I stumbled upon several people sprinkled in a shop holding colorful objects. Through the window I eyed displays with several vibrant colored bars aligned and organized by design. I looked up to see the word RAIN above the entrance to the shop. As I entered RAIN I was greeted by a pleasant voice. Im always looking for new beauty products, especially bath products so I was naturally inquisitive. I was in luck ,the owner, Hendrien was present and shared what RAIN is all about. RAIN originated in South Africa and opened up this wonderful location in NYC’s Rockefeller Center. RAIN makes handmade bath & body products using natural ingredients…
