    What is Black Joy?

    From electing a nitwit into the highest seat in the Oval Office to the phenomenal headline renaming a popular festival to “Beychella”, the media is taking us on a rollercoaster ride. I hardly ever watch television anymore but that doesn’t mean that the negative reports don’t make their way into my subconscious through outlets like Facebook and instagram. None of us are immune to negative infiltration of media. It’s tough to focus on the good things happening in our communities because they are often underreported.     Maldives: Velassaru Islands

    To celebrate earning our 200 hour yoga and meditation teacher training certificate in Rishikesh, India we treated ourselves to a luxury vacation. What better place than the Maldives? With lush landscapes, exotics beaches and plus accommodations it was an easy choice. We arrived in Male, Maldives in the afternoon to find a crew member awaiting our arrival. We immediately boarded the boat and headed to Velassaru Resort. The ride was about a half hour with a scenic view of other small islands. In a matter of minutes we were checked into paradise.
