WTF: Women’s Travel Festival 2015
I had the pleasure of attending the Women’s travel festival in San Francisco, California and meeting the founder of The Women’s Travel Fest, Kelly Lewis. This was a great experience for me because there are times when I share my travel experiences with other women and more often than not I get reactions such as ” Weren’t you scared?” or “Isn’t traveling alone as a woman dangerous?” I immediately think to myself WTF!?!?! I wanted to connect with other awesomely brave women and hear how they overcame, fear, obstacles and naysayers!
Kelly Lewis is the founder of the Women’s Travel Fest. She’s also the founder of Go! Girl Guides, which publishes the world’s first series of travel guidebooks for women. She’s a travel journalist with over 10 years of experience, and has worked her way across the world, including one stint where she lived on a ship that sailed around the world while working with Semester at Sea. She loves to travel and lives to help other women experience the world.
The Women’s Travel Fest is an annual event that inspires, empowers and celebrates women’s travel. We discovered a wealth of knowledge on how to travel without breaking the bank, where and why you should totally go solo, and how to live the awesome travel life you want.
WTF is a three-day event includes speakers, vendors and two networking parties, so you’re sure to make new friends and business connections with other ladies who love travel, too. Im so glad that I did not miss it this year!
All of the Pretty ladies were focused as Kristin Luna gave insider scoop on the possibilities of making travel your career. I took plenty of notes, but I was extremely inspired by her travel wisdom. We also heard from Deidre Mathis, author of “Wanderlust: For the Young, Broke Professional” on how to more get further on less! I especially loved the “Travel Writing” workshop taught by Rachel Friedman, author, The Good Girl’s Guide to Getting Lost and Lavinia Spalding, editor of The Best Women’s Travel Writing.
What an amazing experience at the Women’s Travel Festival. I walked away with not only encouragement but knowledge of how to make my dreams of traveling the world possible. And guess what…WTF will have its 3rd Annual fest in New York City. Would you like to attend next year? Stay tuned and visit www.womenstravelfest.com for more details.
